The Department of Exceptionality Programs at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a Permanent Tenure-Track Faculty Position. Applicant’s primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate level ASL and Deaf Culture related courses in the ASL/English Interpreting Program. The ASL/English Interpreting Program is a four-year Bachelor Degree granting program.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include teaching and/or supervising in other relevant areas which support the ASL/English Interpreting Program. Expectations of this position include continued scholarship and service. Instructional delivery can occur through on-line, traditional, and alternative instructional methods and can occur on main campus or off-site educational locations.  Voluntary summer contracts may be available.

Job Title/Rank: Assistant or Associate. Salary is commensurate with experience and preparation.

Date of Appointment:  August 25, 2013

Qualifications/Experience: Earned Ph.D. or Ed. D. in related field to ASL, Linguistics or Interpreting from an accredited institution required by August 24, 2013 with a strong academic background.

Preferred Skills/Expertise:  Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations is preferred.  Evidence of skills/expertise in ASL is preferred.  ASLTA (American Sign Language Teachers Association) certification is preferred.  College teaching of ASL and Deaf Culture courses is preferred.  RID (Registry of Deaf Interpreters) certification is preferred. Prior experience in supervision of student interpreters is preferred.  Evidence of scholarly activity is preferred.
