FYI about a few interesting sign linguistics conferences

1. International Conference on Sign Linguistics and Deaf Education in Asia

(http://www.cslds.org/conference2013/), January 30-Feb 1, 2013 in Hong Kong, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Gaurav Mathur is a keynote speaker!). Deadline for abstracts is August 31.

2. German Linguistics Society (DGfS) annual meeting will host a special session on “Linguistic Foundations of Narration in Spoken and Sign Languages”

(http://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/364026.html). The conference takes place March 13th-15th, 2013 in Potsdam, Germany, and the workshop will be one day, but I’m not sure which (by the way, Spring Break at Gally is March 18-22). The DGfS always has a special workshop on sign linguistics, on various topics. I went this year, and it was a very stimulating meeting with folks from all over the world. At the same time, it’s small enough to give you the chance to really talk to people in person. Abstract deadline is September 1, 2012.

3. 10th High Desert Linguistics Society conference (http://linggraduate.unm.edu/conference/2012/callforpapers.html) is not a sign linguistics conference, per se, but they always include sign linguistics and gesture studies in their conference theme. This year, Paul Dudis will be a keynote speaker! The conference will take place November 1-3, 2013 at the University of NM. Abstracts are due August 5, 2012.
